This is an original Charles Coggshall Miles City Saddlery saddle (tree) c. 1895-1905. Charles Coggshall was an early saddle maker in Miles City, Montana 1895. He was a partner of the famous saddle maker, Al Furstnow. Coggshall was a prosperous businessman who hired the best saddle makers available towork in his shop. Miles City became known as the Western saddle capitol of the United States. This saddle was built around 1895-1905 and still has the loop seat. The tree is the famous Miles City wide swell tree used by both Coggshall and Furstnow. The Coggshall saddle was incredibly popular and was used by cowboys across the entire country. This saddle tree shows good condition with a 14" seat.
