Featured in this lot we have a Mimbres Native American frog effigy jar from around 1050 to 1200 CE. The Mimbres culture was located primarily in Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico with some reaching down to northern Mexico. The Mimbres culture was around from 1000 CE till 1200 CE. The Mimbres where known for their distinctive pottery styles. This piece is created in the shape of a frog with its torso being the pottery jar. The jar also shows hand painted geometric patterns and spots on the frog. The geometric patterns are all roughly the same design with brown and black paint. The piece shows no signature or makers mark. It is in good condition overall with a few hair line cracks. The piece measures 3 3/4" tall by 4 1/4" wide and 5" long.
