Featured in this lot are two, early miners candlesticks with the original candles found in a Colorado gold mine from the late 1880s-90s. The first and largest shows the typical miners candlestick style with a long spike and a curved hook. The candlestick holder features the original candlestick and is stamped reading, "E. Schneider & Co.". E. Schneider & Co. was a major maker of candles, oil, and glycerin. The company was formed in St. Louis in 1842 to manufacture soap. E. Schneider & Co.'s stearic wax candles were well-known throughout the country's mining districts. Following the death of E. Schneider in 1889, Anthony Schmitt became president of the corporation. The second one is marked reading, "Pat. June 17" but shows no makers mark or company mark. It is smaller than the first but shows the same design and features a smaller, unmarked candle. They show good condition overall with slight wear present from their age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. The largest measures 13 1/8" L x 3" W x 3" H (9 3/4" H with candle), while the smaller one measures 7 5/8" L x 2 1/2" W x 2 3/4" H (5 3/8" H with candle). They have a collective weight of 12 ounces.
