Featured in this lot is this Montana Broadwater Co. livestock branding irons circa 1930's. There are two branding irons in this collection used to create the brand used on the outfits cattle. The first is a 'H' and the second is a (bar iron). The 'H' would have been laid first with the (bar iron) lain horizontally next to the 'H' and was used by Alex C. Carson out of Townsend, Montana. The branding iron and brand was identified using the Montana State Library Montana History Portal. The condition of this pair of branding irons is preserved with heavy oxidation and some slight repair to the 'H' of the branding iron but otherwise is well preserved. The measurements of these branding irons is 40" x 3 5/8" x 1/2" and 38 1/4" x 4 7/8" x 3 5/8". The collective weight of these branding irons is 8lb 8oz.
