For your consideration is an original Native American gouache painting titled "Fancy Dancer" by Beatein Yazz (1928-2012). Beatien Yazz was a self-taught artist from the Navajo Nation. He always included subject matter relating to his culture and religion, which is important to remember and teach to the next generation. His watercolor paintings provide important cultural records. This beautiful gouache painting is on a tempera paper, showing a colorfully adorned Navajo dancer. The bright colors, and details of the dancer are consistent with traditional Native American style of the artist's work. This piece is signed by the artist in the lower right corner. There is a University Art Galleries label from the University of South Dakota detailing information of the piece on the reverse of the frame. This information is also written in ink on the reverse of the frame backing. The visible artwork measures approximately 9x11" and is framed in a wood frame that measures approximately 12 1/2 x 14 1/2".
