This is an exceptional circa 1930-1940’s Navajo Native American Indian Morgan Silver Dollar and Buffalo Nickel massive squash blossom necklace. The necklace consists of eight blossom Morgan Silver Dollar’s from circa 1883-1891 which have been rounded slightly but have retained the beautiful detail of the original coins. Also shown on this necklace are 64 rounded concho / concha beads with each being made of two original Buffalo Nickel coins dating from 1928-1937 for a total of 128 coins (again they have been slightly rounded but retains the beautiful detail of the original coins). The necklace has been strung on an early sterling silver chain strand with hand made large clasp. The naja squash pendant is of a nice large size and has been constructed of sand cast sterling silver in a heavy and traditional design which is accented by four gorgeous gem quality bright blue turquoise polished cabochons. This is the most impressive large Morgan Silver Dollar Squash Blossom necklace that has been offered for sale publicly and is a very rare example as most are shown with Mercury Dimes of a smaller size instead of the much more impressive Buffalo Nickels. The piece is believed to have been made in the late 1930’s to 1940’s when these coins were readily available. Provenance: From a large Native American and Cowboy collection in Billings, Montana. The necklace features the following Morgan Silver Dollar coins: 1883-P, 1883-P, 1884-S, 1886-O, 1888-O, 1890-O, 1891-P, 1891-O. Measures overall 33” long circumference with a naja pendant that is 3.25”x2 5/8”. The necklace weighs overall 865 grams.
