Featured in this lot is this Navajo hand woven, stepped chinle rug, circa 1950's. This regional Navajo rug style is named for the town of Chinle at the mouth of Canyon de Chelly. The rug shows a unique stepped decoration with coloration consistent with midcentury construction; the weave is tight and shows a heaviness to the rug, displaying the quality of this textile. The condition of this rug is good for its age, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this Navajo rug are 64 1/2" x 24 1/2".
