This is a very unusual and unique bone carved whistle and medicine bundle from the Northern Plains Native American Indians and from a large Montana Native American antiquities collection with an old museum collection tag attached. The only other example of a Northern Plains Beaded Whistle and Medicine Bundle necklace was sold by our company in January 2021 which sold for an astounding $10,000 (shown w/ bp). This piece is incredibly similar to that $10,000 piece. The piece exhibits an Indian tanned hide necklace strand holding two Indian tanned hide medicine bundles, one covered in yellow ocher / ochre dye and the other covered in red ocher / ochre dye. The whistle is carved from bone and has a wrap of parfleche rawhide which is covered in a banded old glass trade seed beaded section. The beadwork shows chalk white, red white heart and greasy light blue. The whistle is tied with Indian tanned hide and has Indian tanned hide fringes which hold two pink wrapped yarn horsetail hair fringes and a drop of old trade blanket wool stroud with a fringe end. The top carries an old metal covered paper tag which is written on with old fountain pen. The tag has a hole at the center but can be read, “No. 529 R. (or B.) F.”. Truly an unusual piece that displays very well. Measures overall 16”L with the whistle being 4.75” by itself.
