This is a wonderful Northern Plains Native American Indian attributed catlinite calumet pipe bowl from circa 1800 to 1850. The piece shows a rare desirable and period correct ‰ÛÏT‰Û shape and is crafted of solid catlinite pipestone with a rich red coloring. The piece shows a very early age from circa 1800 to 1850‰Ûªs. The bowls shows a rectangular stem end which flows into a round cavity with flat base connecting to the round thin deep pipe bowl and ending in a pointed octagonal tip. The bowl has been repaired as shown in the photographs. The piece shows a wonderful light to dark red coloring and excellent black like patina with soot filled bowl, as the piece had been used. Provenance: From the private museum collection of early Native American weapons and artifacts in Paris, France. The bowl measures 7 7/8" long, 3 5/8" tall, and 1" wide.
