For your consideration is this large book of archived newspapers from the Sacramento Daily Record-Union in Sacramento, California. The newspaper archive book features full newspapers from July 1st, 1881 to December 31st, 1881, resulting in 183 days of newspaper archives. The notable page is from Thursday October 27th, 1881, where a column titled, "Arizona - Cowboys In Tombstone - Desperate Shooting Affray" can be seen. It tells the story of the O.K. Corral Shootout, where the Earp brothers faced off against the Clanton-McLaury gang in a legendary shootout at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. Three members of the Clanton gang were killed: Billy Clanton, and brothers Tom and Frank McLaury. The shootout also resulted in injuries to three of the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday. Also included are two reprints of the column and a real photo postcard showing Billy Clanton, and brothers Tom and Frank McLaury lying in their coffins the day after the shootout. Various other columns are present including world news, general and local news, advertisements, stock information, weather information, business card columns and more. The newspapers are bound in a large book with quarter leather binding. The spine is marked with gold gilt lettering reading, "Sacramento Daily Record Union / A / July-Dec. 1881". The newspaper archive book shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. Gold gilt lettering from the spine is worn off in some areas and the spine exhibits wear. Interior pages show slight wear and foxing throughout some pages, but the majority are clean and in good, readable condition.
