The lot features an Indian tanned hide pipe bag with geometric beadwork and a unique, three tab/tail fringes, attributed to the pattern of the Oglala Lakota Sioux. The beadwork shown is all glass trade seed beads, showing a greasy white background and pattern in greasy yellow, red-white heart, medium green, and cobalt. The bag shows three triangular drops at the base in the place of fringes, an early documented pipe bag/tobacco pouch feature, as seen in John Molloy Gallery. The tail drops have cut fringes framing the outside edges and finish in a single fringe on each piece, fully beaded around with two rolled tin jingles cones each. The exact age of the bag is unknown. The beadwork is shown around the entire bag opening, down the right vertical edge, and at the bottom square with tab pattern below and above. Measures overall 23.5" L by 6" W.
