For your consideration is an original, signed acrylic painting titled "Verde Valley" by Bill Shaddix. Shaddix (born 1931) was born in Oklahoma on November 30, 1931. Shaddix grew up in poverty in the Dust Bowl. His family moved to southern California in the 1940s.In 1956 he became the deputy sheriff of Orange County, California while painting in his leisure. A self-taught painter, as he gained fame, he soon became a full-time artist. His early works are mostly southern California landscapes; whereas, he later found inspiration in the Rock Mountains. He settled in Phoenix, Arizona where he continues painting the romance and lore of the cowboy and Indian era. This piece shows a road to a ranch in Verde Valley, AZ with a mountain mesa in the background with sunset colors and contrasting shadows. The detail of the work shows vibrant colors and distinct brush strokes showing smoke coming from the ranch house, a windmill in the yard, and fence around the property. There are three trees in the foreground, next to the road, with orange leaves indicating a fall scene. The lower left corner shows the artist "Bill Shaddix" signature. This piece has been preserved in a wooden frame. The visible art measures 4.75" x 6.75" and the frame measures 10.75" x 12.75"
