For sale in this lot we have a pair of early Acoma Native American Indian polychrome pottery owl effigy figures originating from circa 1900- 1920. The pair are done in the classic early stylings and is truly a wonderful set of original rare effigy's. The early 20th Century pieces show a handmade pottery construction with polychrome mineral pigment painted design in white, black and red/orange showing a feather and features design. These rotund figures show an owl with protruding wings, tail, and facial features with ears. The effigy's show original Sundog Gallery tags marking them as Acoma Owl effigy's and are price marked for $250 each. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. The larger of the two measures approximately 3" tall by 2 3/4" wide by 2 1/4" deep and the smaller one measures 2 1/4" tall by 2" wide by 2" deep.
