Included in this lot we have a wonderful early Zuni Native American Indian polychrome pottery effigy owl figure dating from the 1900- 1920. The figure is done in the classic early stylings and is a truly excellent original rare effigy. This early 1900's piece shows a handmade pottery construction with a polychrome mineral pigment painted design in white, brown and a red/orange detailing the feathers and features design. The rounded figure shows an owl with protruding wings, a tail, and facial features with ears. The polychrome on the bottom has been chipped preventing us to see any markings traditionally left on the underside. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. The piece measures 3" tall by 3" wide and approximately 2 1/2" deep.
