Included in this lot we have a wonderful early Zuni Native American Indian polychrome pottery effigy owl figure dating from the 1900- 1920. The figure is done in the classic early stylings and is a truly excellent original rare effigy. This early 1900's piece shows a handmade pottery construction with a polychrome mineral pigment painted design in white, brown and a red/orange detailing the feathers and features design. The rounded figure shows an owl with protruding wings, a tail, and facial features with ears. The polychrome on the bottom has been chipped preventing us to see any markings traditionally left on the underside. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery.
