Featured in this lot is this rare, J. Steven's Arms & Tool Company Model #141 rifle scope from 1900. The J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company (and its predecessors and successors) was an American firearms manufacturer founded in 1864 by Joshua Stevens in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Initially, it was known as J. Stevens & Co. The company evolved through different names and ownership structures, eventually becoming a subsidiary of Savage Arms in 1920. This scope would have been used on any average rifle in the early 1900s. The scope is marked near the front eye piece reading, "J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. / No. 141 / Pat. Pend. Chicopee Falls, Mass. U.S.A.". No other markings are present on the scope. When looking through the scope, it is slightly dirty / cloudy but shows no cracks or chips. A clear image is present. One of the original rifle mounts is present on the scope still but the front mounting piece appears to be slightly damaged or broken. It shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. It measures 18 1/2" L x 1 3/8" W x 1 7/8" H and weighs 10 ounces. Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. G20
