Offered in this lot is a collection of rare Montana Baculite fossils. The Baculitidae are characterized by an ammonitella followed by a staright to slightly curved shaft. Whorl sections can be circular, ovate, elliptical, trigonal, or pear shaped with a flat venter. Ribs consist of undulations or slight swellings on the flank and sometimes prominent ridges on the venter. The degree of taper can vary from low to high with size ranges from small to up to 120 cm. This large collection comes from the Bear Paw Shale in Big Horn County, MT. The specimens vary in size from small to large and contain wonderful mother of pearl coloration. The largest piece measures 6 7/8" x 3 1/2" x 2 1/4".
