Featured in this lot is this early and rare, New York & Kentucky Company O.F.C. Rye bottle from the late 1890s, to early 1900s recovered in Historic Tombstone, Arizona. The New York & Kentucky Company, now known as the Sazerac Company, has a rich history in the bourbon industry, particularly through its ownership of the Buffalo Trace Distillery, which was previously known as the O.F.C. Distillery (Old Fashioned Copper). Col. E.H. Taylor Jr. established the O.F.C. Distillery in 1869, which he later claimed was "The Model Distillery Plant of the World". The distillery was purchased by George T. Stagg in 1878 and renamed the George T. Stagg Distillery, later becoming Buffalo Trace. The bottle shows a light brown color with a label on the front and back. The front label reads, "O.F.C. Rye / A Perfect Whiskey / New York & Kentucky Co. Sole Proprietors / New York, U.S.A." and shows two coins. The back label shows the original O.F.C. Distillery and shows a caution warning telling buyers to not fill this bottle with any other liquid and to not resell it. A partial cork is set in the neck of the bottle. No contents in the bottle. It shows good condition overall with some slight wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage noted. It measures 6 3/8" L x 3 1/8" W x 1 1/4" D and weighs 8 ounces. Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. B56
