For your consideration is a Rare Prussian Empire Spike Helmet. c. 1800s. This helmet has a black leather body and visors, with a metal spike. There is a leather strap attached to the sides and at the strap connector is a black, white, and red designed metal cockade. The metal front plate is marked with an "FR" cipher and the motto "MIT-GOTT-FUR" "KOENIG" "UND-VATERLAND" (With God For King And Fatherland). The front plate is not held on with original connectors. All the brass trim (spike, top plate, trim, etc.) are original to the helmet. Both the Prussian and Imperial cockades are present and appear to be original. Black leather liner is present with moderate wear. The visors stitching which attaches it to the helmet as come unstitched. There are a few undistinguishable markings on the leather of the back visor, and black letter stamped on the inside of helment. One black letter marking is dated "1915." The helmet measures approximately 8 1/2" tall, and approximately 20 1/4" interior circumference.
