The lot features a tomahawk axe having a forged iron head, carved haft, pewter inlay, and engraved features being marked Red Eagle 1881 and likely dating to the mid-to-late-20th Century. The head shows signs of being blacksmith forged with the forge line going down the bottom and top edge of the blade and a hammered finish across the surface. The tomahawk head is a heavy medium size example, possibly with an earlier age than the haft and more likely a belt axe than a weapon. The head is secured to the haft with a poured pewter end cap that has a pinwheel and pictorial engraved design. The haft has a dark red coloring and shows an inlayed poured pewter band just below the head with geometric etching and poured pewter end cap pommel which is also engraved. On both sides of the handle at the center is inlaid a plaque which could be sterling silver with a dark coloring, but not tested, which is hand engraved "Red Eagle 1881". Measures overall 25.25"L with the head being 5"L and 23 3/8"L across the bottom edge of the blade.
