Remington Model 6 "Boys Rifle" rolling block single shot target rifle chambered in .22 short, long, and long rifle. Remington’s Model 6 was a modified and scaled down version of the famed rolling block action rifles. With its lightweight 20” round barrel and takedown configuration, it was intended for and marketed to the youth of the day. By simply turning the screw ahead of the bottom of the receiver, the rifle would easily be taken down for easy carry in a pack, canoe or on a bicycle. Manufactured from 1902-1933, the Model 6 was the dream of many a young boy! Unlike most of the cheaper, imported rifles, the Remington was of very high quality and deserving of the famed Remington name. Like this example, those chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge are especially desirable. Early production rifles sported case hardened receivers with later production being full blue. The rifle displays a 20" long round barrel, casehardened frame, falling block design, and walnut stock. The top of the barrel is marked as "REMINGTON ARMS--UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO., REMINGTON WORKS, ILION, N.Y. U.S.A. -- PATENTED JULY 22, 1902. REMINGTON TRADE MARK .22 SHORT, LONG, OR LONG RIFLE" and marks across the left side reading "PATENTED JULY 22, 1902". The rifle shows good mechanical condition with it overall in good condition with wear due to age and use. Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona where the carbine has been on display in their collection for multiple decades, Marge and Stephen Elliott collection with many items associated with John D.
