Featured in this lot is this San Francisco, CA The Call newspaper for Dec. 4, 1896 with four articles concerning Wyatt Earp's dealings in San Francisco; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The newspaper is from San Fransisco and is an original that was housed in Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. Illustrated in the newspaper is the colt .45 Wyatt was carrying during the Sharkey/ Fitsimmons fight, where he was arrested later for the carrying of a concealed weapon. There are four articles starting with the sue and claim by Fitsimmons for the retention of the $10,000 purse. The second is about the disarming of Earp at the fight and about the arrest and bail posted by Wyatt Earp following the disarming of his weapon. The third is about the pistol and where it resided at the time. The last article is about Wyatt Earp's involvement in managing racehorses and his association with Dan Lynch. The condition of this The Call newspaper is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage to the newspaper or the frame with only browning to the paper consistent with the age of the newspaper. The measurements of this framed newspaper is 27 1/2" x 38 7/8" and the visible newspaper measures 22 3/4" x 34 1/2". The collective weight of this framed newspaper is 11lb 2oz.
