Featured in this lot is this The Tombstone Epitaph newspaper out of Tombstone, Arizona for July 2, 1881 including Ordinance #9 from Chief of Police Virgil W. Earp; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The newspaper is authentic and includes both national and local history but importantly includes a listing for a new ordinance set forth by Virgil Earp Chief of Police at the time the ordinance reading as follows: Ordinance No. 9 "Notice is hereby given that in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 9, to provide against the carrying of deadly weapons, all persons found with pistols, bowie knives or dirks upon their persons, without a permit issued by the proper authorities will be arrested and proceeded against according to the provisions of said ordinance." V.W. Earp Chief of Police. The condition of this Framed The Tombstone Epitaph newspaper is well preserved with some tears and browning to the pages consistent with the age of the newspaper and the frame looks well preserved. The measurements of this framed newspaper is 27 1/2" x 39 1/2" and the visible newspaper measures 23 1/2" x 35 3/8". The collective weight of this framed newspaper is 11lb 14oz.
