Featured in this lot is this Santa Clara Pueblo black on black pottery olla by Elizabeth Naranjo circa 1940 - 1950's. The pottery olla features a wonderfully and professionally crafted ceramic construction that shows black stain on black slip or clay and shows a olla design to the vessel with stepped geometric patterns with a feather-like design. Elizabeth Naranjo, was a renowned potter from the Santa Clara Pueblo, and was active primarily during the mid to late 20th century making the pottery from her family's Pueblo traditions . She was born in 1929 and passed away in 2016. Her work, especially in black-on-black pottery, was produced over several decades. The condition of this Santa Clara Pueblo black on black pottery is preserved with some natural fading and texturing to the olla but otherwise shows a preserved overall condition. The measurements of this pottery olla is 4 3/8" x 4 1/4" x 4 1/4". The collective weight of this olla is 1lb 2oz.
