This is an excellent set of Santee Sioux Native American Indian hide gauntlet gloves showing outstanding whimsical beadwork. The set shows an Indian tanned hide construction with a large Warrior / Men’s size being a prominent presentation set completely covered with beautiful whimsical floral beadwork. The beadwork is done with all glass trade seed beads in colors such as cobalt, greasy yellow, red, Cheyenne pink, medium green and greasy dark green. The set shows a tall tapering gauntlet cuff attached to the glove which exhibits beadwork across both sides in the same floral pattern with a Cheyenne pink fancy outer edge further accented by long hand cut thin Indian tanned hide fringe at the outer edge of each side of the gloves. The beadwork runs down the front of each finger, a truly artistic and unique attribute found on Santee Sioux examples. The gloves are in excellent condition with little to no bead loss. Provenance: From a collection out of Big Sky, Montana from a Yellowstone Club estate. Each glove measures 18.5”L by 11.5”W with fringe.
