Included in this lot for your consideration is an exceptional example of a Savage 24C-Series P break-action, over-under, combination gun, chambered for .22 long rifle, and 2 3/4" 20 gauge. The combination gun was released by Savage in 1939, though the configuration was uncommon in the United States at the time, they had great success. The 24C variant was exclusively offered in .22lr/20ga, with 20" separated barrels - This rifle is no exception. The rifle additionally features a gorgeous walnut fore-grip, and English straight stock, and a case-hardened receiver, contrasted by deep blue'd barrels. The rifle additionally utilizes a serrated hammer with a barrel selector, and an elevation adjustable rear notch sight, paired with a ramped front sight. The firearm is marked in numerous places, reading; "Savage 24C-Series P" on the right side of the receiver, "B418044" on the left side of the receiver, "-Savage Arms- Westfield, MASS. U.S.A." on the lower right side of the barrels, "Do Not Fire Shotgun Barrel With Scope Attached - Proof Tested .20 Gauge -2 3/4 Inch Chamber-" on the lower left hand side of the barrels, and ".22 Long Rifle" on the top rib of the barrels, behind the rear sight. This combination over-under was manufactured between 1971-73, and given to the seller in childhood, remaining a single-owner gun until now. The firearm shows use, with meticulous care, boasting 95%+ finish on the case-hardened receiver, and on the blue'd barrels and trigger assembly. As well, the action remains tight, and the bores show fantastic condition, both showing brightness. The upper .22 barrel displays very strong rifling. The firearm also includes the original expanded parts diagram, and a Sears branded infograph included with purchase.
