For your consideration is this Schlitz Beer lithographed metal sign from the early 1900s. Schlitz Brewing Company, known for its iconic beer "Schlitz," traces its roots to a small brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, established in 1849 by August Krug. Joseph Schlitz, a German immigrant, joined the brewery and eventually took over management after Krug's death in 1856, renaming the company and marrying Krug's widow. Schlitz's brewery gained popularity and expanded rapidly, becoming the largest beer producer in the United States by 1902. This advertisement shows two beer bottles, a cork and a glass of beer sitting on a table. The bottom is marked reading, "The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous / Jos. Schlitz Brewing Co. / Milwaukee, U.S.A.". The advertisement shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. It measures 28 5/8" L x 22 5/8" W x 1 1/4" D and weighs 3 pounds and 14 ounces. Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona.
