For your consideration is this original, miner's bell from an early Tombstone mine in the 1880s to 1890s. this bell is from the Wayne Winter's Estate. This bell would have been used for communication, signaling, and potentially, as part of early warning systems for emergencies. They served as a way to alert others underground or on the surface, indicating everything from needing assistance to signaling the need for a change in the ventilation system. This bell still features the hammer and springs and makes a nice tone when struck. No makers mark or company mark is present on the bell. It shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. It measures 9 1/2" L x 8 1/2" W x 5 1/8" D and weighs 4 pounds and 12 ounces. Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. M42
