Featured in this lot is a set of 1950's Sioux Indian Pipestone (catlinite) salt and pepper shakers, as well as a pipestone horseshoe. They are from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. The Sioux are groups of Native American tribes and First Nations peoples in North America. The term can refer to any ethnic group within the Great Sioux Nation or to any of the nation's many language dialects (wikipedia). These pieces show beautiful red-brown coloring and intricate floral carving design. The shakers measure 3.5" T x 1.25" W x 1" D. The horseshoe measures 3" x 2.5" and all of these pieces are in good condition.
