For sale in this lot is an exceptional example of the Smith & Wesson Model 2, Double-Action revolver, chambered for .32 S&W. The revolver was manufactured between 1885-1909, and qualifies as a 4th variation. This example utilizes a rare 6" barrel with full rib, top break action, with an automatic cartridge extractor, hard rubber "S&W" monogram grips, 5-shot cylinder, and a blue'd finish. The firearm is marked in numerous places, reading "SMITH&WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. - PAT'D MAY 11. 1880. JAN. 3. 1882. APRIL 9. 1889" on the top of the barrel rib, "32 S. & W. CTG" on the left side of the barrel, "TRADE MARK" around the S&W monogram on the right side of the frame, and serial number "225962" on the butt of the grip, back of the cylinder, and on the bottom of the top break latch. Overall, this is a very fine Smith & Wesson, in a desirable blue'd configuration, with the rare 6" barrel. The Firearm shows good aesthetic, and mechanical condition. Cosmetically, the revolver shows good finish retention, excellent grips, and a nice, natural patina. Mechanically, the revolver has a tight double action, with a strong bore - Although the hammer fails to lock on single action - Though when pulled, the cylinder rotates in good time, and has strong cylinder lock-up. The revolver manufactured between 1885-1909 qualifies as a Curio & Relic Hand Gun, and REQUIRES FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 225962.
