Featured in this lot is this Civil War era steer horn powder flask collection circa 1860's. There are two flask's in this collection. The first shows a darker steer horn construction that shows a turned wooden base stopper that is tacked in with brass tacks and shows a flute stopper from a small turned wooded cork and is marked on the top 'U.M.C. Co. No. 16'. The second is a lighter steer horn construction that features a turned wooden top that is tacked into the steer horn and shows a turned wooden cork and a leather shoulder sash. The condition of this pair of powder horns is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of these powder horns is 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 3" for the darker powder horn and 9" x 8" x 2 1/2" for the lighter powder horn.
