Thompson-Center .50 Caliber percussion Hawken rifle. These exceptionally fine rifles were made completely in Rochester, New Hampshire and were not imports. Thompson-Center ceased all production some years ago and their fine products are now increasing in value as a result. Their line of traditional muzzle loading rifles are also becoming more difficult to find. (It appears the company has been purchased and may see production again in the future.) Their Hawken rifles feature walnut stocks, double set triggers and brass butt plates, patch boxes, trigger guards, forend caps and ramrod thimbles
etc. The engraved lock plates and hammers were color case hardened and 28” octagon barrels with adjustable sights were deeply blued. This example has seen light use and has some minor wear/thinning of the blue on the forward sides of the barrel. The wood is excellent. The hammer only needs an adjustment to hold full cock- this should be an easy fix by deepening the full-cock notch in the tumbler. All internal lock parts are present and, should one desire, replacement parts are inexpensive and readily available. The double set triggers function properly and the bore is bright and excellent. These are truly striking rifles known for their authentic appearance, American-made quality and fine accuracy with either patched round ball or lead bullet. The rifle weighs 8lbs. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
