Included in this lot is a Tlingit bear carved whale bone and abalone totem. This totem is carved into a large section of whale bone measuring 12" tall and roughly 3.5" round. The totem depicts the image of a bear with abalone shell accents in the eyes, ears, nose and claws. The Tlingit people, native to the Pacific Northwest and southeastern Alaska, are tied very close to their spiritual beliefs. Their items and artwork imbued with spiritual power.
