Featured in this lot is this Tombstone, Arizona Territory found "Brown Mixture" bottle from United Drug Company circa 19th century and displayed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The bottle features a wonderfully and professionally crafted brown colored glass construction that shows a large shape with a cork and a label that reads as follows: Mi 293 - Brown Mixture - U.S.P. 9th Rev. Formula Without Opium - Contains 8 percent alcohol - United drug Company - Boston, Mass. "Brown Mixture", as its called, is a solution used as a cough suppressant generally including a dose of opium (although this example is without opium) and was prescribed for many various reasons, though coughs and sore throats were the most common use for this solution. The condition of this Brown Mixture drug bottle is well preserved with wear to the cork consistent with age and the label shows significant wear with browning consistent with age. The measurements of this bottle is 13 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 5 1/2". The collective weight of this bottle is 3lb 8oz. MS118
