For your consideration is this original, DuPont No. 6 Blasting Caps box from the late 1880-90s from Tombstone. DuPont was created in 1802 by E.I. du Pont as a gunpowder plant on the Brandywine River near Wilmington, Delaware. Originally centered on explosives such as gunpowder, dynamite, and nitroglycerin, the company expanded into other chemicals and consumer products in the early twentieth century. Notable developments include neoprene, nylon, Stainmaster carpets, and the acquisition of Pioneer Hi-Bred International in the global seed market. This wood box is marked on all sides with the front and back marked reading, "1000 Blasting Caps / Handle Carefully / Keep Fire Away - Keep Dry / Do Not Store Or Load With Any High Explosives / I.C.C. - 14". One side is marked reading, "DuPont" while the other side is marked reading, "1000 DuPont No. 6 Blasting Caps". The box shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted.
