Featured in this lot is this Zulu Nation, South Africa Iklwa stabbing spear. The spear shows wonderful construction with a longer blade, perfect for stabbing, attached to a shorter half by a strip of cowhide. Shaka of the Zulu invented a shorter stabbing spear with a two-foot shaft and a larger, broader blade one foot. This weapon is otherwise known as the iklwa or ixwa, after the sound that was heard as it was withdrawn from the victim's wound. The condition of this spear is good, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this spear are 43 1/2" x 2 1/4" and the blade length is 18 1/2".
