Offered in this lot we have a an excellent early Zuni Native American Indian polychrome effigy figure of an owl and originates from circa 1900- 1920. The piece is done in the classic early stylings and is truly a wonderful original rare effigy. The early 20th Century piece shows a handmade pottery construction with polychrome mineral pigment painted design in white, black/brown and red/orange showing a feather and features design. The rotund figure shows an owl having protruding wings, a tail, and facial features / ears. The base is signed Zuni N B and shows its original Sundog Gallery tag stating it to be a Zuni Owl with a price of $400. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. The piece measures 3 1/2" tall by 2 3/4" wide.
