John Ronald Reuel Tolkien CBE FRSL (1892-1973) was an English writer and philologist. This edition of Tolkien's the Hobbit is boxed and bound in green with gold and red foil Norse rune lettering along the spine and cover. The top, bottom and fore edges of the pages feature a lovely green and white marbling. The book includes a number of two color illustrations including two pages showing Thror's map. The green cloth bound illustrated hardcover with stamped gold gilt and red foil Norse rune lettering is in very nice condition, scuffing noted to cover edges. Intact pages are clean, tight spine.
