The lot features a polychrome painted parfleche rawhide sheath with large trade knife from the circa late 19th century to early 20th century from the Sioux. The sheath is comprised of parfleche rawhide with sinew lace sewing and is covered with a geometric classic Sioux polychrome painted design on both sides showing colors of red, blue, green, yellow with a black or brown outline. The top has an Indian tanned belt tie and the sheath is paired with an antique trade knife with hardwood grip handle. The piece has a tag marked Sioux Knife & Sheath $1500. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian collection and museum where the piece was found to be an authentic original. Measures overall together 15-inches long with tie by 2.5-inches wide. The knife is 12 7/8-inches long.
