The lot features a wonderful Crow Native American Indian whimsically beaded belt Tobacco belt pouch dating to the circa 1890-1900’s. The bag is constructed of Indian tanned hide in a typical period correct round design with narrow opening. The bag shows an artful long full border of hand cut Indian tanned hide fringe. The bag is beaded on both sides in a whimsical geometric design using all glass trade seed beads of a period correct age. The beads show such colors as chalk white, butterscotch, semi-transparent green, amber and cobalt. The bag, which dates to early 1900, shows a nice supple condition. The bag still shows the original tie straps and top wide strap which has been fancy beaded. Provenance: From a large cowboy and American Indian antique collection in Wellsville, Utah. The bag measures overall 18.5”L. The bag itself is 6.5”L and the fringe is 10”L. Overall the piece is 25” wide with fringe spread out.
