Featured in this lot is this pair of King Solomon Lodge Fraternity and Hall of Cochise Lodge checks or receipt circa 1883 and 1884 and were displayed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The first check is from the King Solomon Lodge Fraternity for $30.00 for hall rent for a month signed by S.B. Bradford. The second is a Alex Pauline check for the Hall of Cochise Lodge IOOF for twenty dollars circa 1884. King Solomon Lodge No. 5, a Masonic fraternity established in Tombstone in the early 1880s, was one of several fraternal organizations active in Cochise County during the mining boom. These groups, including the Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias, provided social structure, mutual aid, and moral guidance in a region often marked by lawlessness and rapid population growth. The King Solomon Lodge offered a sense of order and community for men in the frontier town, attracting prominent figures such as businessmen, lawmen, and civic leaders. Such fraternal orders played a key role in fostering civic responsibility, charity, and fellowship in the rapidly developing Arizona Territory. The condition of this pair of Fraternal Lodge checks is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage with some browning to the pages consistent with age but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of these checks is 2 7/8" x 7 1/8" and 2 1/4" x 8". TTS-367, TTD368
