Featured in this lot is this Helldorado Days founder 1930 Mayor Ray Krebs brass anvil circa 1930 and displayed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. This is a brass anvil given to the mayor on a successful term and comes with an original museum tag that reads as follows: Promotional brass anvil for "R.B. Krebs - "Mayor 1930" May of Tombstone. The anvil is marked on the sides as follows: Mayor 1930 - E.B. Krebs. R.B. “Ray” B. Krebs (1882–1955) served as Mayor of Tombstone around 1930 and is best remembered for founding the Helldorado Days festival in October 1929 to celebrate the town’s 50th anniversary and jump-start its tourism economy . As mayor, he personally contributed funds to restore Tombstone’s historic 1880s buildings, established a new public park, and even proclaimed that “bootleggers, bad whiskey and drunks will be kept out of Tombstone” during Helldorado to maintain order . In addition to his mayoral term, Krebs represented Cochise County in the Arizona State Legislature, combining his political career with a lifelong dedication to preserving Tombstone’s frontier heritage. The condition of this Mayoral brass anvil is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage with a slight patina adorning the sides but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this anvil is 1 1/2" x 3 5/8" x 1 3/8". The collective weight of this anvil is 313.5g. TT-113
