For your consideration is this August, 1909 Tombstone Arizona Kicker Newspaper, framed. Provenance: Tombstone Western Heritage Museum, Tombstone, Arizona. William Hattich (1871-1964) was the editor of the Tombstone Daily Prospector from 1896 to 1913. Hattich, “Billy” to his friends, grew up and was educated in Tombstone’s first school. He worked in Tombstone as a printer’s apprentice for a while and then moved to Los Angeles to study typesetting methods. Returning to Tombstone in 1895, Hattich purchased the Tombstone Epitaph and Prospector from Stanley C. Bagg, which he edited for twenty-one years before he moved back to Los Angeles in 1913. In 1891, Bagg decided to publish the Wednesday edition of the Prospector under the title Arizona Kicker. Hattich continued publishing the Kicker until 1913. The Kicker's The headline of the August, 1909 issue was "We Have Been Sued,". The paper's moto as part of the header, "The Kicker Moves the orls While the Dreamer Sleeps." The Tombstone Western Heritage Museum label reads, "ONE OF 2 PAPERS KNOWN TO EXIST TOMBSTONE 1909 Wm Hattich, editor". The newspaper is in amazingly preserved condition, edge tears noted. Normal age tanning and wear exhibited, wood frame is in good overall condition with slight scuffing to edges. Visible image measures 11.25"W x 15.75"L, frame is 16.5"W x 20.5"L x 1"D from hangers. Weight is 3lb, 10oz.
