Featured in this lot is this pair of hand crafted Museum requisition fountain pens constructed from Johnny Ringo's Death Tree from the Sander Ranch and displayed at the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. These fountain pens are wonderfully and professionally crafted construction, requisitioned by Stephen Elliot with permission from Sanders. The fountain pens unscrew to reveal the guts while sporting .45 caliber colt cartridge adornments to the cap and turned oak from the "Black Jack" oaks on the Sander Ranch. The "Death Trees" are located near Turkey Creek on the old Wagon road that lead to the Chiricahua Mountains were the Smith's and Sanders were milling wood to sell in Tombstone in the 1880's. One of these Oak trees had fallen down and we were given permission by the Sander's to use the wood. Stephen Elliot personally gathered the wood and had a craftsman who's signature can be seen etched into the shaft of the pens. Each pen is etched as follows: 1. 2/500 LLW UN - 2. RINGO 7/500 TLW. The pens come complete with an original museum tag that reads as follows: Hand Crafted Fountain Pens made from the wood of John Ringo's Death Tree. The condition of this pair of Johnny Ringo Death Tree fountain pens is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of these fountain pens is 5 5/8" x 5/8" x 1/2". The collective weight of these fountain pens is U4oz.
